The homeowners don’t always keep the furniture You know how the homes are always decorated to the nines on Fixer to Fabulous? Well, that’s all thanks to Jenny. Since HGTV doesn’t pay for the renovations, she always tries to use the clients’ existing pieces.

Does HGTV pay for renovations on ‘ Fixer Upper ‘? Surprisingly, the answer is no. The couple (or person) is responsible for paying for their own renovations, but that doesn’t mean they walk away totally empty handed. While HGTV doesn’t fund the renovations, they do pay for one big ticket item.

When HGTV first announced it was filming a TV pilot with Dave and Jenny Marrs in Bentonville, Ark., that pilot was not called Fixer to Fabulous. As Arkansas’ Talk Business & Politics reported at the time, the pilot was originally titled Almost Home.

Some issues—like an unstable foundation and water damage—are addressed on Fixer to Fabulous, but there is far more than meets the eye. Although Jenny and Dave are used to running into problems during renovations, they always recommend hiring an additional inspector to assess unforeseen costs.

How many seasons of Fixer Upper are there?

Fixer Upper originally premiered in 2013 and ran for five successful seasons until airing its final episode in 2018. At the time, the show was the number-one unscripted series across all networks, with a cool 75 million people tuning into the final season.

This includes everything from the rugs and the tables to the small trinkets Joanna uses to decorate the bathroom. Built-in fixtures—like chandeliers and cabinets—are likely pre-purchased by the customer and, therefore, permanent. Joanna will sometimes gift the homeowners a piece or two from the staging.

The series follows Chip and Joanna Gaines, a husband and wife duo who have mastered the art of flipping houses. Each episode, they team up with a new set of homeowners to turn their fixer upper into a worthy investment. Earlier this month, the couple announced that Fixer Upper is returning for more episodes.

Not every room undergoes a full-blown demolition, since Chip and Joanna typically focus on one area of the house. However, the other rooms will likely undergo a brief touch up, which may be as simple as applying a new coat of paint. Courtesy of Magnolia Network. 4.

While HGTV doesn’t fund the renovations, they do pay for one big ticket item.

To top it off, the homeowners aren’t required to pay Chip and Joanna for their design services, since HGTV covers the talent fee.

What is the ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ lawsuit about?

Things aren’t looking too good for Dave and Jenny at the moment. According to CBS, a lawsuit was filed in 2021 against the TV couple.

New episodes of Fixer to Fabulous Season 3 are still currently airing on HGTV. As far as Season 4 goes, there hasn’t been an announcement about a renewal just yet. The show appears to still be sitting in limbo since it also hasn’t been canceled.

Dave and Jenny haven’t spoken up about the lawsuit against them, but they recently made an announcement about a project they’ve been working on called The Welcome Inn. According to Jenny’s Instagram account, this project is a huge deal for the couple.

Why are Jenny and Dave not included in the budget?

Because the clients featured on the show are paying for the renovations themselves, Jenny and Dave usually aren’t able to get all of the finishing details included in the budget — especially when they run into structural issues or other major unforseen projects. Dave and Jenny do offer the homeowners the opportunity to purchase the staging furniture at a discounted rate (which is more than can be said about a lot of other shows on the network). The couple spoke with PureWow in January of 2021 about what they offer clients at the end of filming.
