Two of the most well-known and successful female artists of all time are Gwen Stefani and Madonna. Both have had enormous success in the music business, with Stefani leading the well-known rock band No Doubt and Madonna becoming a worldwide sensation as a solo performer.
Fascinatingly, the two are in fact connected. Silvana Ciccone, the mother of Madonna, is the first cousin of Stefani’s father, Dennis Stefani. The two women are now second cousins as a result.
Despite sharing a family, Stefani and Madonna have only seldom interacted. In fact, Stefani has said that seeing Lourdes, Madonna’s daughter, left her feeling more awestruck than meeting the Material Lady herself.
Stefani has praised Madonna, calling her an “inspiration” and claiming that despite their limited interactions, she has “always looked up to her.”
However, on the other hand, Madonna has complimented Stefani’s collaborations with No Doubt, referring to them as “one of the most avant-garde ensembles of the ’90s.” Given the prominence of both women’s musical careers, it is understandable that people are interested in their connection.
Stefani and Madonna appear to be only two of the several successful female musicians who also happen to have a familial link, despite the fact that they are related.
